WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.
[l(Y TELEGRAPH. — OWN' CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, .Saturday. MATAMATA ESTATE. Tub general manager of the Assets Board (Mr. W. H. Foster) says it is quite true as reported in the press that an offer from a syndicate of £90,000 for the Matamata Estate was refused. The estate contains about 45,000 acres, and considering the value of the land the price offered was absurdly low. SUNDAY LABOUR. A delegate from the Furniture Trade Union stated at last night's conference of labour unions that he knew of a factory in Wellington in which apprentices were working all day on Sunday. Where are our factory inspectors?" he asked. Replying to this question, another delegate said unionists ought to inform the inspectors of such breaches, and help them in every way by putting them on the track of breaches of the law.
