THE V.R.C. GRAND NATIONAL MEETING.
By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright,
Sydney, June 21. The racehorse Battlcaxe arrived safely from Auckland to-day by the s.s. Mararoa; and will be sent on to Melbourne by train to fulfil his engagements at the V.R.C. Grand National Meeting.
Our Wellington correspondent telegraphed last night that Mr. F. Watson, owner of Battleuxc, left for Sydney on the preceding day by the s.s. Wanimoo. It was anticipated that The Guard would be shipped by the same steamer; but he was not sent, and it is now concluded that the Porirua horse will not fulfil his engagement in the V.R.C. Grand National Steeplechase. A private wire, received from Sydney, states that Battleaxe is at 10 to 1 for the V.R.O. Grand National Hurdle Race.
