AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. J The market was quiet on Saturday. In investment lines New Zealand Insurances sold at 795, more being offered at same price, with buyers at 77s 6d. In mining lines Monowais were done at 2s 6d, with further buyers at that price, sellers 2s 9d. Crowns had sellers at 13s 4d, buyers 12s 9d. Little interest was shown in other lines, few buyers quoting. j NEW ZEALAND CROWN MINES, ! LIMIT HIGHEST RETURN OF THE YEAR. £7105 FROM 2892 TONS. TOTAL TO DATE, £427,971. During the month of May the New' Zealand Crown Mines, Limited, crushed and treated 2892 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at £7105. The scow Matakana left Waiomo for Auckland this morning, with 28 x tons ot concentrates on board from the Monowai Gold Mining Company's reduction works, to he shipped to the Dapto Smelting Works per the steamer Elingamite. MERMAID SEA BEACH CLAIM. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Coro.uandei., Saturday. The proprietors of the Mermaid Sea Beach claim have completed their first crushing of six tons of foreshore silt, at the School of Mines' battery, for a return of 4oz lOdwt of melted gold, valued at £13 10s 3d. Mr. Hornibrook, the man® ager, is well satisfied with the result. A large amount of dead work has been done, and the claim is now well opened up. Frequent crushings may be looked for.
