« — Paris, April 21. —T0-night's dress rehearsal of "Francesca da Ramirii" at the Theatre Sarah Bernhardt was more than unusually interesting to English people from the fact that the great actress appeared for the first time in a play written by Mr. Marion Crawford. The audience was an exceedingly brilliant one ; the Prime Minister and Mme. WaJdeck Rousseau occupied a box, and Mine. Melba was in another. As the dramatic story, with its vivid colouring and powerful acting, moved pn through a series of striking and effective pictures and strong situations, Mme. Sarah Bernhardt's unrivalled mastery of the emotions of love and hate roused the house to thunders of applause. ...
