FIJI AND THE CABLE.
Tub following are the first cable messages between London and Fiji: — " OFFICER ADMINISTERING GOVERNMENT OF FIJI TO MR. CHAMBERLAIN. » (Received April 10.) " On behalf of the people of Fiji desire to convey to His Majesty the King the expression of our loyalty to the Throne, and respectful congratulations on the occasion of sending this the first telegraphic message from the most remote of the British dominions beyond the seas. . " Please accept from this .colony congratulations on completion Pacific cable to Fiji." " MR. CHAMBERLAIN TO' OFFICER ADMINISTERING GOVERNMENT OF FIJI. "April 17. " His Majesty commands me to convey to you and people of Fiji his sincere thanks for congratulations on completion of cable to Fiji and expressions of loyalty. "His Majesty's Government also thank you for congratulations on event which is of greatest importance and interest to colony under your government and Empire."
