The annual Shakespere evening of the Otahuhu Mutual improvement Association, held on Monday evening, was an instructive and enjoyable one. The play taken was " King Lear." The president, Mr. W. Matthews, road a thoughtful and critical paper analysing the play, and connecting the readings. The readings were given by Mrs. Wilson, Tv'rs. Luke, Miss A. Matthews, Mr. H. J. Hall. Mi. E. West, Mi. T. Wilson, Mr. E. Matthews, and Mr. C. B. Whitmore. The criticisms that followed were favourable to the readings and to Mr. W. Matthews' excellent paper.—[Own Correspondent.]
