HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at the Board's office, High-street, yesterday afternoon, Mr. Jm. Stichbury. chairman, presiding. There were also present: Meiers. A. P. Friend, A. Bruce, G. J. Garland, John Bollard. M.H.R., P. Dignan, J. Walters, and A. R. Harris. Dispensary Report: Jn the course of his report, the medical officer to the dispensary (Dr. Hooper) stated that 27 new cases had been admitted for treatment during the month. The average daily attendance at the dispensary was 10, the average daily visits three, and 283 prescriptions were compounded. The month throughout was a tolerably healthy one, no epidemic of any kind having occurred. Then? was no death during the month. The Chairman said this was very satisfactory and would dispel the impression that there was a lot of illness in the way of lever and other epidemic* at present. • ___ Wolfe's Estate: Mr. Carruth, of Whangarei, forwarded a communication covering a cheque for £500, part of the amount of gift to the hospital under the will of the late Mr. E. "Wolfe. The letter was received. Plague Hospital: The resolution passed some time back by the Auckland Scenery Conservation Society protesting against the plague hospital buildings being erected on the Domain ground was received. me chairman having explained that at a conference that morning it had been decided to erect an infectious diseases hospital in the hospital grounds, on the completion of which the' present plague hospital would no doubt be removed by the city authorities it was agreed that it was not necessary to taae anv action in the matter. Finance: The statement of accounts. lor the year ending March 51 gave receipts rom all sources as £20,978.9* .lid, and expenditure £22,571 19, W, leaving the bank overdraft at £1593 9s sd.
