AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. The market wan quiet yesterday. In investment lines New Zealand Insurances continued in demand, selling at 73s 6d, with further buyers at 735, and no sellers quoting. Bank of New Zealands were held at 61s without buyers. In mining lines May Queen Extendeds sold at Bd, Komata Reefs at Is 2d, and Maratotos at 3d. Tairua Broken Hills were done at 10s and 10s 3d, sellers closing at 10s 6d, buyers 9s 6d. For Crowns buyers were offering lis, with sellers firm at lis 6d. In other lines late prices ruled.

MAY QUEEN EXTENDED G.M. CO. The reef in the May Queen Extended Gold Mining Company's mine has been broken down in both drives and stripped for a further breaking down. In the western drive the lode is Ift sin wide, and in the eastern drive 20in wide, showing colours of gold when taken down. The country is a favourable class of sandstone, containing several mineral veins striking into the reef. CHELMSFORD G.M. CO. The ore treated at the Chelmsford Gold Mining Company's battery during the past week has been of good payable quality, and has been won from all sections of the r*ine. Very good ore has been coming to hand from the stopes at No. 2 level. The manager is unable to sink at present owin*, to the large amount of water which would have to be contended with, so that the only way to reach the floor of the level will be by "putting in another level. The crosscut for the No. 2 reef is now in 20ft, and the lode should be to hand at any time now. Stoping is proceeding as usual in other parts of the mine. The clean-up will be completed on May 2 or 3.

PROGRESS-CASTLE ROCK G.M. CO. [BY telegraph.—own correspondent.] Coromandel. Monday. The Progress-Castle Rock Gold Mining Company cleaned up to-day from 19 loads of general ore for a return of 250z 9dwt of melted gold, valued at £64 lis 6d.
