McFarland, 8.A., has received word from the Primate that he has been selected by the nominators of St. Barnabas' parish, Mount Eden, as its vicar, in succession to the Rev. W. H. Johnston, M.A. The institution will take place at an early date. Our Coromandel correspondent states that a very pleasant evenin" was spent in the Methodist Church, Kuaotunu, on Saturday last, in order to say good-bye to the Rev. F. J. Tylee, who, after having laboured as home missionary for 11 months, has been received on probation for the Methodist ministry, and appointed to take charge v at Lyttelton. A programme of various'items —songs, recitations, choruses, etc.—was very creditably 'rendered. Mr. Tylee was presented with a very beautiful "gentleman s companion," as a token of the esteem in which he was held. Mr. Horn (chairman), in making the presentation, spoke of the good work done by Mr. Tylee during his stay with them. Mr. Tylee thanked the friends for their kindnesses, and for the presentation. Our Paeroa correspondent writes: — The Rev. Dr. Kemp, who for the past 12 months has ministered to the Paeroa and •Karangahake Presbyterian Churches, was ■on Wednesday night accorded a valedictory social by the members of the congregation, and occasion was also taken to welcome his successor, the Rev. M. Fussel, from Otahuhu. The Rev. Mr. Thompson, of the Thames, presided, and there were also present: The Revs. G. B. Monro (moderator of the assembly) and Norrie, of Coromandel. The various speakers dwelt upon the good work done by Dr. Kemp, and regret was expressed that he was leaving. A hearty welcome was also extended to Mr. Fussel, who entered upon his work with great hope and encouragement. A splendid musical programme was sub* . mitted, a feature being the contributions of a male quartette party, comprising Messrs. Reid, Griffith, Fewe'll, and Griffin Several part songs, as well as solos T»y the members of the company, were given, and were much appreciated, as were also two solos by Miss Gentil. an organ solo by Miss Kellar, and a solo by Mr. Law.
