CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
Yesterday afternoon a meeting of the memben, of the council of the Chambei or Commerce was held at the office of the secretary, Mi. H. Goulsfcone, Victoria Arcade. Mr. Hugh Campbell occupied the chair, and ( there were alno present: Messrs. W. H. Smith, George FoAvlds, M.H.R., C. Seegnor, J. Reid, G. Aickin arid A. B. Roberton. _ Inspection of the 'Northern Railway: Tho Chairman stated that Mr. Upton had requested him to ask the Council to appoint two delegates to accompany him on a contemplated inspection of the northern railway, right through Hokianga. As a result of the question being put before the meeting, Messrs. George Fowlds, M.H.R., and Wiseman were appointed to act as the council's delegates. ' Conference of Chambers: Mr. Emberton asked that the principal body bo requested to consider tho question of holding the next annual conference of representatives of each Chamber of the different provinces in Auckland.
