AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD.
A' MEETING of the Board of Governors .of tho Auckland College and Grammar School was / held yesterday afternoon. ; Present: Sir .G. ,M. ■; O'Rorke (chairman), Samuel Luke, * J. >■', Earrell, Professors Thomas and Brown, Dr.: Robcrton. •-- ; .'Bearding School: The Chairman reported that the ! committee appointed had made an inspection of the sites offered for a ;board-/ : inghouse site in ; connection with the* school, but although some were suitable, the prices asked; were , far beyond their means. He thought that a hasty choice, should not be : made, ' and that ':, further offers should bo invited by advertisement; -also that a; property containing at least 10 acres should, ,bo; secured. It : was decided 'to further advertise for a suitable property, with an area of 10 acres. / . Property: An application was received from the trustees of the Seventh Day Adventist Church,- asking for a lease of land in New North Road; for church purposes. The secretary said that the upset 1 ; prices had been fixed, and the conditions were for the erection of dwellings 'at limit prices. Resolved to reply that the land could only be leased for the erection of dwellings _or shops only ; thereon. ;An application for lease -of lot 4, Brown-street, New North Road, received from Mr. W. J. j A. -Mcintosh, was granted. j Tender: Tho tender of F. Thomas and Co., at £39 5s lid, was accepted for , ; the work of renewing the; drainage of ..the I Board's properties in Symonds-street. | Three tenders were received. Finance: Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £711 7s 4d. , ' Adjournment: The : meeting was then adjourned till the 27th prox.
