The tonnage of goods handled at the port of Wellington; by 3. the :-Harbour Board. during 1901, ; ; was; 283,666 ; tons, as against 253,059 tons for 1900... The quantity of wool and; ? hemp ; for ;.; the year :;■' was: —Wool* 116,594 bales, as?against ' 120,708' bales'; hemp, 48,615 : bales, against 1 68,589 .'bales. Coal shows an increase from 61,456 tons in 1900, to 62,070 tons in 1901, and timber inwards increased ■; from .i;;3,056,764ft to 3,539,293 ft, while timber outwards shows a decrease from 1,421,268 ft to 841,817 ft; The profit : and loss account of the year shows that: after payment, of all charges 'there was a ; credit balance of £1940.
