The weather has been most oppressive and disagreeable.."', Since early morning the sun. has been completely obscured with a thick dust-coloured haze, so dense that harbour, navigation is difficult. Similar conditions prevail throughout the greater ; part of the Commonwealth. Dense duststorms are sweeping across the continent ; from the west, accompanied by a hob wind. In numbers of cases it . has been followed by destructive galea. Bush fires are also again causing much damage in. many districts. Melbourne, January 22. A storm swept across .the city at ar early hour, and much damage to property resulted. Several-steamers broke loose. The steamei : Albert collided with the tug Hawk, and both were considerably damaged. Adelaide, January 22. . A severe storm was experienced to-day., At Glenelg the cutter Heather Bell and several boats belonging to clubs were sunk., Much damage was also done to. houses and property. '"'
