FATAL ACCIDENT IN THE BUSH.
. KILLED BY A FALLING. BRANCH. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Coromandel, Wednesday. A fatal accident happened in Foster's bush, Kerita, near Manaia, this morning. Charles Bennett and William Reddy, his brother-in-law, went into the bush with the object tof falling trees. Reddy was up a tree cut'ting off a top branch, Bennett clearing underneath, when the large limb of the tree came down with a crash, and pinned Bennett to the ground. Reddy at once came down the tree, but could not lift the limb off Bennett. Reddy at once started off to Foster's, a distance of three miles, for assistance, but when Reddy and George Foster, also a brother-in-law .of Bennett, arrived at the scene of the accident, Bennett was dead. Foster at once rode into Coromandel and informed the police, and the coroner, Mr. A. R. H. Swindley, chartered the s.s.' Falcon, and proceeded to Kerita to hold an inquest, Mr. Bennett belongs to Tapu, near the Thames, and leaves a wife and three children, the youngest being five years old. _£___
