NELSON PROVINCIAL, CONFERENCE. [by telegraph.— press ASSOCIATION.] Nelson, Tuesday. The Provincial Conference of the Farmers' Union was held at Richmond yesterday. Ten delegates were present, Mr. Glass, organising secretary, attending. The conference . adopted the platform passed at the Palmerston North Conference, and passed a series of resolutions submitted by various Nelson branches. The moat, important were to : the effect that Crown and "native lands within three <miles of a public road be rated for local purposes; that the Government take over the main roads in thinly-populated districts where there are no railways; that the administration- of the Noxious Weeds Act be left to the local bodies, and that the Government be asked to clear the river beds and Crown lands; that farmers be exempted from the Workers' Compensation ,Act; ; that the sheep tax and land and income tax ; exemption be reduced; that a Beer Adulteration Act be passed and strictly.'enforced; that landholders have the right, to take fish from streams running - through their own property, • arid: that > protection be ;: removed from imported birds -and animals; that fire premiums be 'reduced, ■ and a strong protest -against the increased honorarium of members;, of Parliament be made.
