There is a good demand for' butter at 10-ss; Danish, Il3s; and cheese, firm, ,50s. Hemp is firm, and,' though quiet, there is a better demand for distant deliveries. Good fair Wellingion: Spot, £33 10s: February to April, £31 10s. . The stock is 258 tons, against 1537 last year. Cocksfoot is quiet. New Zealand, 171b standard, 40s per cwt. '. At the first wool sale of the. season, to-day,' 3077 bales were offeree), being about one-third of the usual offerings at this sale, the cause of the falling-off being the continuous v<et weather. For fine lustrous crossbred there was keen competition, and prices were a bore the present London quotations. Coarse crossbred met with good inquiry at equivalent to London ' values, and the bulk was sold. Prices ranged as follows:— and fine crossbred, 5Jd to 6?d; good crossbred, 4c< to 5'J; i ordinary coarse, ditto, 3d to 4d: bellies, 20. \ to 2id Merinos brought up to 7d, and generally speaking sellers got a little more tlian was anticipated.
