CONTINUATION OF CUP MATCHES.

. GOOD SCORING BY GORDON I. . The : concluding series in the first round of the Auckland Cricket Association matches was commenced on Saturday at the Domain and North Shore.

FIRST GRADE.

AUCKLAND V. PARNELL.

" For the fifth, time in succession R. Neill won the toss for Auckland and' decided to ' bat. Quentery and MacCormiek' opened the innings with a partnership of 41, the former then being caught by Lusk for nine. MacCormiek left at 49, having made 26 by careful cricket. Neill and Hemus added 35, Neill making the most of them by magnifi- : cent cuts. Shepherd showed fine form in making his 24, and it was hard luck for him to bo run out just as he looked like making a big score. Nicholson made 22 by free cricket. The innings closed for 147. E. Mills and Resteaux obtained the wickets for Parell. Lusk, in the slips, accounted for three catches. Parnell's innings was one disastrous procession, eight wickets falling for. 55 runs, E. Mills and Gardiner being the only batsmen to make double figures.' The bowling of Cossey and St. Paul was very good. The former captured .four wickets for 16. "The ball that St. Paul bowled Gardiner with was a beauty and completely battled the veteran. Auckland's fielding was of the best. This match should prove an easy victory for Auckland. SECOND GRADE.

AUCKLAND V. GORDON. Gordon batted first on an easy wicket, but the first" six wickets fell for 19 runs to the bowling of Greville and Airey. l'airbum (17), Williamson (11, not out), Callender (9), and Dr. Egan (7), helped to take the total to 61 before the last wicket fell. The Auckland bowlers were all on the spot, and were backed up by, good fielding, Greville being tho most successful bowler, with five wickets for 28 runs. Of the Gordon batsmen those mentioned showed the best form. Hill and Broadfoot opened Auckland's innings, but did not do themselves justice owing to their anxiety to catch a- train. Hill made 13, and with Beale and Dazeley together, Gordon's score was soon passed, Beale then being bowled by Kyd for 19. Dazeley played good cricket all round the wicket, - and was ultimately not out with the good score of 47, Morley 16, Airey and McCoy 9 each, helping him to take the total to 142, or 81 runs on, just before time was called. Kyd (five for 40) and Kissling (two for 17) were the most successful bowlers, and" the fielding was fair, Kissling, Whitelaw, and Callender being perhaps the best in this department..
