CROWN LAND SALES.

At the Crown Lands Office yesterday tho Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. G. Mueller) conducted a successful sale of land and timber in various. parts of the distriot. A largo clump of kauri and;totara timber within l the Puhipuhi State forest (Whangarei), comprising 5,£53,509 superficial feet of kauri and 118,222 superficial feet of totara, was purchased Messrs. Lauglman and Harrison, of Palmerston North, at; the upset price, £3762 12s. Three clumps of kauri in Block XVI.,' Hukerenui survey district, and Block XL; : Opuawlianga : survey district (Whangarei), were purchased at tho upset prices, £294 : Is.: Two clumps', in the State forest reserve, Whangarei survey district, on the Waihorahia River, were purchased at the upset price,, £121 ,3.< by Mr. T. B. O'Connor. A; clump of kauri and totara timber in Block XIII., Opuawhanga survey district, was j purchased., by Mr. Thomas Pickens, at the upset price, £270. A small clump on timber reserve, Block VI., Waipu, \vas purchased, for £17 4.=?, by .'Mr., D. MoKenaie. Two small clumps in Punakitore .survey district : and - Waipu reserve; were passed in. and now remain open at tike upset prices. Section 379,; Waiotahi parish, eight acres* Norman Purdie, £16; lot 31, Taupiri Village, H. Farrell, £10; lot 34, John Ca.v«trui.gh, £10; lot 35, F. A. Wilson, £10; section 73, Maunpataniwha parish, 36 acres, £84, D. Goldie. There was a large attendance of the public, and spirited bidding for some of the small lots, which realised considerably above the upset prices
