TOTAL FOR THREE WEEKS, ' £59,960 7s* 10d. " _ PREVIOUS BEST ANNUAL OUTPUT - , EXCEEDED. * The gold returns for the Auckland district for the past three weeks have reached the satisfactory total of £59,960 .7s lOd, which lias only twice been exceeded in the current year during , any similar '. period. The output for the preceding three weeks was £67,170 0s lid. Though the . final cleans-up for the . year are not yet completed at any of the mines engaged in crushing operations, the output to date, since the beginning of the 'annual, period now drawing to a close, exceeds the highest previous gross annual output for several years, amounting in all to £696,724 9s 2d. The record yield for many year* was that of 1899 (£641,150 14s sd), upon which the output for 1901 already shows the sub-; stantial increase of £55,573 14s 9(1, whilst the excess over last year's' total amounts; to £61,690 9s lid.
