The original deed conveying Dr. J. Logan Campbell's magnificent gift of Cornwall Pari to the people of New Zealand has beer handsomely framed and delivered by the trustees to the Free Public Library, where ; prominent place for it will be found'on the walls. At the foot of the frame there is i plate, with inscription, stating that the deed conveying Cornwall Park to the people of New, Zealand was handed to the Duke o: Cornwall on the occasion of the visit' of Hi: Royal Highness to Auckland, June 11. 1901 A meeting of Northcote residents on December 12 decided on a watei supply scheme for the district. In thei' consideration of the water supply -ro posals the ratepayers had before them a suggested joint scheme for Birkenhead • v.nd Northcote, and a separate scheme for tin Nortucote district prepared by Mr. H. Munro Wilson, engineer to the Waitemat? C.unty Council. The fatter was adopt !, although the Birkenhead borough' Council had shown their willingness to be a party to the joint scheme. The joint scheme was estimated to cost £7142, of whicl: the ' Northcote share f was estimated it( £2871.
