AUCKLAND AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

A hbkting of the Show and Finance Committee of tho Auckland Provincial Agricultural Association was held at their 0&0& yesterday afternoon. The vice-president (Mr. John Massey) occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of the members.

A ilefcter was received from Messrs. W. Soutor and Co., Cambridge, congratulating tho association, on having initiated a _ series of field trials for manures, and offering to give a ton of Maiden Island aruano for the next series of experiments. The secretary wlas instructed to write thanking Messrs. Souter and Co. for their offer, and stating that the association would 'be glad to take advantage of the offer daring tho coming season. Tho secretary reported that a Bill had been passed empowering the Governor to grant a block of land near the Ellerslie station to the association as a site for a showground ; but before the grant could be issued the Public Trustee would have to select a piece of Crown land of equal value, to bo held by him in trust for the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, in lieu of the paeco to be granted for the showground. A hearty voto of thanks was accorded to Mr. W. F. Massey, M.H.R., for the trouble he had taken in the matter, and the following gentlemen wore appointed a sub-committee to deal with tho question: Messrs. W. F. Massey, M.H.R., J. R. "Walters, A. S. Thompson, J. G. Rutherford, J. Massey, A. H. Grainger, and the president. Mr. T. Coates gave particular* of the steps that had been taken by the Orakei Road Board with regard to the road to the proposed landing for cattle at Orakei Bay, for which £750 had been put on the Estimates by the Government. After a short discussion, it was agreed to write, urging the Government to undertake the management of the work and push on with it as rapidly as possible. Messrs. T. W. Jones and J. R. Walters were appointed to represent tho association on the committee set up to fix the price of dairy produce. The aeoretary stated that a dispute had arisen in connection with the awarding of the prize in class 245, four loaves of bread, made by a baker from Bycroft and Co.'s flour. After a lengthy discussion it was agreed to invito the disputants to compete again, and to send in fresh exhibits to be re"judged. A number of accounts were passed for payment.
