NEW SURVEYOR-GENERAL. [by telegraph.—PßESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. The promotion of Mr. Marchant, Commissioner of Lands at Wellington, to the position of Surveyor-General, is officially announced. Mr. James McKerrow is retiring from the position of Chairman of the Land Purchase Board, and will be succeeded by Mr. Barron, at present UnderSecretary of Lands, and Acting SurveyorGeneral.
