The third trial of Dr. Wilkins, charged with manslaughter, was commenced at the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The evidence adduced has been similar to that given at the two previous trials, when the juries failed to arrive at a verdict. The accused on the present occasion defended himself, and on Tuesday his manner of cross-examin-ing the witnesses brought him in conflict with His Honor, the Judge, who spoke very plainly on the matter. The defence was heard on Wednesday morning. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty, and accused was discharged. Mr. and Mrs. G. Garrett, who on the 14th November celebrated their golden wedding were entertained by a number of friends at a social gathering held in the Masonic Hall, -Newton, oh the 13th of November.
