MILITARY FETE AT THAMES.

[BY TELEGRAPH.-- OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Thursday. A military fete and fair of all nations, promoted by the No. 1 Thames Rifles (lata Navals) and Naval Band, was opened this afternoon in St. George's Hall, and is to be continued for the rest of the week. The opening ceremony was performed by His Worship the Mayor (Mr. Trembathj, and at the conclusion of his address the Naval Band played " God Save the King." The large hall has been beautifully decorated for the occasion, and the stalls are all laden with goods of all descriptions for sale, whilst there are also numerous side shows and other amusements. This evening both the local volunteer companies, with their respective bands, together with the fire brigade, marched through the town, and afterwards assembled at the hall. The fete, which promises to be a great success, is the result of the efforts put forth by a large committee of ladies and their friends for several months past. There was a very large attendance this evening, and the takings were quite up to expectation.
