A BARQUE ASHORE.
ACCIDENT TO THE ANTIOCO ACCA.MI'. [Ii V KI, JK '\ I' 11. — I'iIKSS ASSOCIATION.] I) i:xin*, Thursday. 1 Hi' Italian barque Antioco Accame (Captain Monte) was towed to sea from Port Chalmers this morning, being bound for J. imaru. As only a moderate breeze was blowing she seemed likely to make a fair trip. A telegram was received from James Ross, a farmer, of Shag Point, stating that the vessel was shore at Kartigi. Later on a telegram earn? to hand from the captain as follows —" Send immediately a tug with a powerful pump. Antioco is aground on Kartigi Beach." No further details are to nand. It is surmised that the barque must have struck a reef and that the captain thought it, advisable tc beach her. J lie Plucky will leave at daybreak for Shag Point. The vessel had been chartered by the Shaw. SayiH and Albion Company to load at Timaru.
