[BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. In the Divorce Court to-day v decree nisi was granted in the case of David Drake v. Annie M. Drake and Thomas McGoveni. This was the sequel to a recent arrest, and the bringing back of the respondent and co-respondent from Auckland.
One hundred and thirty-four tons of new season's dairy produce were sent Home by the Wakanui yesterday, 108 tons from Wellington, 16 tons from Auckland, and 10 tons from Dunedin.
Gisborne, Friday. The opening of the bowling season took place today, there being a recoru gathering of bowlers and visitors present. Mr. W. Pettie congratulated the club on their victory in the champion fours competition at the tournament held last January, and expressed the nope that they would follow it up by winning the shield and banner of the Northern Bowling Association this year.
P.u.MtatsTON North, Friday. Mr. George Giant, headmaster of (Jal-!ege-street school, died last evening, titter three days' illness. Deceased was Known throughout the colony as one of the principal leaders of the prohibition movement. DtJNBDIN, Friday. The Queen Victoria Statue fund now totals £2325.
At Tapanui to-day Patrick McCann, boardinghouse-keeper, was charged with wounding, with intent to do grievous bodily harm, to his wife. After hearing the evidence, Mr. Cruickshank, S.M., said he felt satisfied that the woman had been wounded, and an explication was necessary. Accused was committed for trial. Bail was fixed at accused in and one surety for a similar sum. Wanganiu, Friday. A meeting of shooting men was held this evening, when it was decided to form a Wanganui and West Coast Rifle Association. The idea is to hold annual meetings, and to encourage shooting.
