AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.

NEARLY SIXTY SPLENDID ILLUSTRATIONS. N.Z. GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING, j . CLOSE OF THE HUNTING SEASON. 4 SIXTH CONTINGENT AT WARFARE. NAPIER PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS. GROUPS AND PORTRAITS. MISCELLANEOUS PICTURES. The present number of the Auckland Weekly News is highly interesting, containing not only illustrations of the leading events;, that have recently been uppermost in the public mind with accompanying letterpress, but a number of artistic and beautiful pictures that are in themselves attractive anywhere and at any time. The close of the Auckland hunting season, which was marked by a splendid day's racing at Sylvia Park, is profusely illustrated. As a contrast to this series of pictures there are several excellent snapshots of the Sixth New Zealand Contingent at the terrible war-game in South Africa. Our men are shown burning the houses of the rebel Boers, killing stock, gathering the families of Boer belligerents. Another pleasant series of pictures shows the most exciting period of the New Zealand Golf Championship meeting, ou the Cornwall links, Auckland. So beautiful and romantic are the surroundings of these links that pictures of the place, even without the added interest of an interesting game in progress, would be attractive. For purely artistic merit the selections from the Wellington Camera Club's Photographic Exhibition would be chosen, but among the miscellaneous illustrations there are a number depicting phases of life in different parts of New Zealand, and glimpses of scenery that would be hard to beat. An opportunity is given to readers for learning what some of the leading people of Napier are like, for groups are given of the Government officials, the Borough Council, the teaching staffs of the various schools, the staffs of the telegraph office, Crown Lands office, Harbour Board, and other institutions. Pictures are given of the newlydiscovered African animal— Okapai, the Santos Dumont airship, the wreck of H.M.s. Viper, the German Antarctic ship Gauss, and numerous other interesting subjects. Besides a large number of attractive illustrations the Weekly News contains an abundance of high-class literary matter, .Mid the complete mining, country, agricultural, and political news of the week. The present issue is now on sale, and can be obtained from all agents and runners.
