POLO.
The Auckland Polo Club held their annual meeting last week. The balance-sheet, submitted showed the club to be on a sound financial basis and in a position to start the season with a substantial margin. Several matters were discussed, and it was mentioned that the club would in all probability receive several recruits to its ranks this year in gentlemen well known in hunting circles. Waingaro players are going to resume polo again, and are getting a team ready to send to Cambridge for the tournament early in December. A very strong team could come from this quarter, as there are quite a number of young follows who are all good horsemen.
The Cambridge men are hard at work getting ponios, but it seems quite as difficult in the Waikato as in Auckland to obtain suitable mounts. Sir. Innis Taylor bought a first-class pony during last week. This ought to do him, as he has his last year's mount as well. Mr. Norman Banks is going to arrango for the men.'. 2rs of his club who live too far away to come, to Cambridge- for practice to play amongst themselves, and come into Cambridge, say, once a week, for a general set-to.
_ The captain of the Auckland Club is stirring things up, and I do not think it will be long before he has his men out for a practice. He evidently doesn't intend to allow any, chances to slip, knowing they have to go to Cambridge so early. Nearly all the members of the Auckland and Remuora Polo Clubs have got their ponies. I think about another half-dozen would fill their ranks, but it is extremely difficult to buy anything within reason, owin,j to ponies being bought up to be shipped foi India.
The Remuera Club were to have held their meeting last evening. The positions will probably be the same as last year, as they generally gave satisfaction. It is a pity Rornuera has not decided upon their colours, as it is too late now to get them from England for this season. They will havo to be the " Gee Bungs" again this year Mr. Wynyard has just secured a nice cut of a pony, which will enable him to bo more prominent on tho field this year.
