The annual meeting of the Thames Jockey Club was held this evening. Mr. E. McDonnell presided, and there was a fait attendance of members present. The report I presented congratulated the members on the success which had attended the race meetings held by the club during the past yeir, and also upon the financial position of the club. It referred to the improvements made on the course during the year, special mention being made of the erection of the start-" ing barriers at the different distances, which improvements had entailed an expenditure of £128. The report also mentioned flat' the cost of the club's property had been £2170, and a further sum of £14*00 had been expended in improvements. So that the total cost could be placed at £3570. There is a mortgage, however, of £1500 on tinproperty, but against that the club had 1 credit balance of £577 5s in the hank,, and : also assets in the shape of outstanding ac ; ' counts of another £100. The amount paid" in stakes during the past year was £1125, which was an increase on the preceding year. of £110. The totalisator receipts were £799 14s, or an increase of £11 lis on the pre-* ceding year. Attention was drawn to thjfact that for the past two years the'club" had done away with the 5 per cent, reduction in stakes, and that the latter had been paid in full. The balance-sheet showed.that the total receipts for the past year, includ-' ing a balance brought forward of £299 5a W,' amounted to £2200 13s 7d, whilst the total expenditure amounted to £1623 8s 7d. This left a credit balance of £577 ss, or a gain of £270 on the year's operations. Both the report and balance-sheet were received and adopted. The election of officers for tho ensuing year resulted as follows:—President,, the Hon. Jas. McGowan; vice-president, Mr. Alfred Smith; treasurer, Mr. C.J.Win-' der; secretary, Mr. W. H. Potts: judge, Mr. Wm. Burton; handicappcr. Mr. W. Knight; clerk of scales, Mr." W. Taylor; assistant clerk, Mr. E. J. Milnes; starter, Mr. C. Short: clerk of course. Mr. W. Connolly. It. was resolved that the amount of stakes to be paid during the ensuing year should not exceed £1500 and that the total'-' sator investments should be paid out on the first and second horses. At a subsequent committee meeting Messrs. C. J. Winder, J. Inglis, J. M. 'Loughlin, E. McDonnell and A. Bruce were elected as stewards. A;: programme committee, comprising the whole of the stewards, was formed and Messrs. McDonnell, Winder and Burton were elected a Course Committee. ' ''{
