ATHLETIC NOTES.
o THE RUGBY UNION CHAMPIONSHIPS. The weekly meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union Management Committee was held at the Sports Club.rooms last evening, Mr. 0. ;i Wells i (chairman) presiding. A letter was read from the. Kawhia Union, asking that an Auckland club team should visit the distviot and meet the local team. Any of the clubs disposed to communicate with the country club are invited to do so. ' Representatives of the second fifteens attended the meeting, and appointed Messrs. Donaldson, Taylor, and Wynyard a Selection Committee to choose the team tc ' meet the Thames junioi fifteen on a. date to bo arranged, it is more than probable that trial matches will bo provided for. Arrangements were made ' for Saturday's Cup matches as under: — FIRST FIFTEENS. No. 1 ground: Newton v. Suburbs, Mr. Pelham. No. 2 ground: Grafton .. Ponsonby, Mr. Surman. At North Shore: City v. North Shore, Mr. Mackie. SECOND FIFTEENS. No. 3 ground: City v. Grafton, Mr. Blalcey. No. 4 ground: , Ponsonby v. Suburbs, Mr. Knox. AUCKLAND REFEREES' ASSOCIATION.! The weekly meeting of the Auckland Referees' Association was held, at the Sports , Club last evening, Mr. F. J. Ohlson presiding. An application was received from the Waihi Rugby Union for an Auckland referee for the Waihi v. Karangahake match, and > Mr. E. Gittos was appointed to take charge. I Arrangements were made for Saturday's i public schools' matches as under: — No. 2 ground: Epsom v. Newmarket, Mr. . Knox. No. 3 ground: Beresford-street v. Napieistreet, Mr. Blakey. No 4 ground: Richmond Road v. Newton East, Mr. Molloy. No. 5 ground: Grafton v. Ouehunga, Mr. 1 Pelham.- ; No. 6' ground: Nelson-street v. Parnell, - Mr. Macky. i No. 7 ground: Wel'cwloy-street v.
