ATTRACTIVE RELIGION.
TO THE EDITOR. I Sir, How is it that some people can see no beauty in any act but their own. Since our- Creator has made us all in His own image why should anyone who is respectful as to manners especially debarred from " letting his light so shine before men," and thereby making a , service more beautiful. And so, sir, I sing with St. Augustine that thanksgiving is as much necessary to the worship of our Creator as prayer. And are ws not told that " him that cometh unto Me I will in no wise cast out?". And so, Mr. Editor, since we have suoh a high authority, why should we turn out any respectful person from participating in the service of the Almighty since lie is only carrying out the injunction that " while he has time he should do good unto all men, especially unto them that are of the household of faith." Your correspondent of yesterday takes exception " to the , warbling of operatic singers in religious worship," and would prevent it if he could, because it draws people away from their own parish. This exception of his beau- i tifully illustrates and proves the wisdom of St. Augustine's advice in that by the very .j fact of the drawing away we see that it is the thanksgiving that is the cause of the drawing away.—l am, etc., ' Thanksgiving.
