ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

Despite the fact;that the weather was not at all favourable on Saturday last, • a most interesting and fast gam© eventuated between the junior teams, Tabernacle ■ A and Tabernacle B. The A team, I playing with eight men, faced , the ball, which was kicked off by Garland. Before many minutes had elapsed it was seen that the A's intended to make things rather lively, for first blood was drawn within two minutes after the kickoff, and before half-time being called added five more "wounds" to. their credit. As every player was both wet and muddy when half-time was called, the captains decided to change about, and commence immediately. By consent the B's took on two more men, which, : added to their previous <10 players, made the game much more interesting, but the victors of the first spell still added to their previous score! About 10 minutes to call of time H. Page, from a quiok .' return, shot , a beautiful goal from near the" half-way line, to the great delight of Tabernacle B. After a very interesting and well-contested game Tabernacle A proved • the winners to the merry tune of 10 goals to 1. For the winners, J. Lepine, J. Bigelow, H. Stacey, and B. Smythe, among the forwards, deserve a word of praise for their combination and individual play; while at half A. Carbines and G. Guy put in some good work. A. Cheal, at fullback, was :■■ a veritable castle of.; strength, his kicking being a special feature of admiration. For the B's, F. Porter, Garland, and A. Turley showed good form among the forwards; while H. Page, W. Page, and R. Barker ;;. (the firstnamed more especially) played sound, defensive " socker." . -
