EXPLOSION OF A ROCKET.

FATAL ACCIDENT AT RAROTONGA. Ok June 11, when the Union Company's steamer Taviuni was making port at Rarotonga from Auckland, with Dr. Craig on board after his visit to South Africa, a very sad accident occurred, resulting in the death of Mr. F. Goodwin, secretary to LieutenantColonel Gudgeon,.the British Resident, and injury to a number of natives. , When the Taviuni was sighted off the port there was a display of fireworks, and one of the rockets which was being sent up from the British Residency suddenly exploded, killing Mr. Goodwin, and seriously injuring four natives who were in close attendance on Mr. Goodwin.
