AUCKLAND CYCLE CLUB.

"A smoke concert was held at the Auckland Cycle Clubrooms last night, in connection with the sports held recently, and Hie prizes won were presented to the successful competitors. Mr. A. .S. Whits was in the chair, and amongst those present were Messrs. K. IJockaert ana P. A. Vaile, representing the Auckland Cycle Roads League. Mr. A'aile, in replying to the toast of " The, League," impressed upon the members the necessity for united action in obtaining good roads anil cycle paths, and gave as an example the

■ progress made by the league with a very | small percentage of the cyclists of the pro- ! vince. He also stated thai as the result of a I deputation the City Council had promised to ! repair Queen-street at once, and altogether i predicted very bright prospects for the riders ; as regards good roads. The toast of " The ; Sports Secretary" was proposed by the cap- ! tain (Mr. A. S. White), who referred to the 1 energetic manner in which Mr. Crozier had ■ worked. Air. Crozier, in replying, said he J had very much pleasure in handing over to I the <ln 11 a cheque for £50, being surplus i from the sports. The Rev. Father Patterson J kindlj presented the prize-;. Musical items ' : were given by tho Rot. Father Patterson, 1 ' Messrs. McGill. West, Coffy, Cohen, Nobb, ! ;P. Smith, and White. Accompaniments I , were played by the Rev. Father Patterson ! 1 and Mr. McGill.
