In- the State Assembly discussion was continued on the republication from the Irish People of the libel on the King by the newspaper Tocsin, published by Mr. Fmdley, Lab'. member for Melbourne. ThePiemier in moving that Sir. Findley was guilty of disloyalty, and that he be expelled from l.lio House, said the Gov eminent had accepted all the lesponsibitity of its action in the. matter, which action had been endorsed by Mr. Chamberlain. After the Premier's motion- the Speaker ashed Mr. Findicy to withdraw. Mr. Findh'T again asserted he had no sympathy with (hi article, neither had the editor of the Tocsin. Mr. Ward moved an amendment: "That Mr. Findley lie suspended for the remainder of the session." Mr. Mahmev 01 ived a iher amendment in favour of suspending Mr. L'iiidley for a week. .Several members having expressed a desire to hear the article read, the House was cleared of strangers, including members of the Ham-aid and press stalls, and the article ms read. On the House lesuming Mi. Findley once more declared his allegiance to the King, and announced his intention of severing bis connection with the Tocsin as a proof of his sincerity in repudiating the article. Several Labour and other members deprecated the adoption of exl lerac measures. The Premier refused t-> give way, and eventually the mot.:on lo expel Mr. Findicy was carried by sixty-f.mr against seventeen. The discussion throughout was marked by great excitement.
