THE WARSHIPS. H.M.s. Torch is expected to arrive at Auckland from Lyttelton about Tuesday next. H.M.s. Mildura left Wellington lor Adelaide yesterday. The warship is expected to arrive at Auckland from Australia about July 26. H.M. surveying ship Penguin was off Slipper Island yesterday, on survey duty. Site is to return to Tauranga to-morrow. THE SOUTHERN CROSS. Our Russell correspondent telegraphed last evening as follows:—" vessel resembling the Mission yacht Southern Cross passed south at 4.30 p.m. THE ISLAND STEAMERS. The Union Company's steamer Ilauroto is due to-day from Sydney, Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. The Union Company's steamer Taviuni is due to-day from the Society and Cook Islands. THE COUNTESS OF RANFURLY. The auxiliary oil engine schooner Countess of Ranfurly, which has been built to the order of the New Zealand government for the Cook Island trade by Messrs. Lane and Brown, of Whangaroa, was launched yesterday, and left for Auckland in tow of the tugboat Admiral shortly afterwards. The vessel should reach this port during to-day. THE STAR JF THE EAST. The barque Star of the East has sailed from New York for Wellington and Auckland, and on discharge at this port will load kauri gum for New York. LIGHTHOUSES AT FIJI. The Commissioner for Works of Fiji has called for tenders for the erection of it lighthouse on the southern portion of the Wakaya Beef Another lighthouse, which it is proposed to erect at Mount Washington, and for which, along with the light on the Wakaya Reef, £2000 has been voted, will also do much to minimise the danger of navigation in the islands. THE A IK A BE. The Union Company's steamer Waikare left Sydney for Auckland yesterday, and is due i an Monday morning next. j THE FIONA. The Colonial Sugar Refining Company's ■teamer Fiona, Captain H. Oair, arrived from Fiji late last night, anchoring in the stream to await inspection by Dr.. Sharman, the port health officer, this morning. Tile steamer brings a cargo of 800 tons of raw sugar, the first of the new season's output from this company's mills in Fiji. After discharging cargo from Sydney in the group, at the various mills, and taking in cargo, the Fiona finally left Luutoka, at i»oon on the 21st inst. Favourable weather was experienced for the first 36 hours after departure, followed by strong S.S.W. winds, head seas, and variable •weather to Cape Brett, which was passed yesjordav morning, thence light east-north-east ■winds to arrival at 10.30 p.m. yesterday. The Fiona will proceed up to Chelsea this morning to discharge.
