PONSONBY BOWLING CLUB.

The annual meeting of (lie Ponsonby Bowling Club took place last evening, in the club pavilion, Jervois Road. Mr. James Stichbury (the retiring president) occupied the chair. There was a crowded attendance. The secretary (Mr. A. Eiartlett) read the annual report, which showed the club to bo in a healthy condition, and the membership the largest in the history of the club. The club matches were, on the whole, keenly contested, and the play generally of a superior character. The report gave an account of the club's share in the various interclub mutches. Various improvements were referred to as having taken place on the club's greens. The green superintendent (Mr. J. J. Payne) had been unremitting in his attention to the greens, and as ho had just taken the levels, and; procured a supply of superior top-dressing, their condition for tho ensuing season should be assured. The receipts for the past year, inclusive of a cash balance of £2 iijs od from the preceding s- ason, amounted to £193 8s 6s, and the expenditure to £187 lis Id, leaving a credit balance of £5 17s Bd. The Chairman moved the adoption of the report and accounts, which were unanimously adopted. The meeting then proceeded to the election of officers with the following result:— President, Mr. K. Ballantyne; A. Littler, senior vice-pre-sident; .). K. Dickenson, junior vice-presi-dent; A. Bartlett, lion secretary; Thos. Ussher, hon. treasurer; committee, Messrs. Buchanan, J. Court, and J. Blades; auditor, Mr. J. W. Bees: green superintendent, Mr. .7. J. Payne. The president-elect then took the chair, and presented the prizes to the fortunate recipients: Championship singles: A. Littler, a pair of silver-mounted bowls, presented by Mi'. .I;\*. Stichbury; A. J. Hurndall, second prize, a case of spoons, presented by Mr. .J. Court. Championship pairs: Pair of bowls, A. J. Cooper; second prize, A. J. Hurndall, pair of sleeve-links (club prize. Handicap singles : .las. Stichbury, club medal. First-year players: Medal, presented by Mr. A. Bartlett; Vic. Langsford, pair of bowls, presented by Mr. K. Ballantyne. Progressive bowls: Biscuit barrel, K. Ballantyne (skip); second prize, books, J. Robinson (leader). . The club proceeded to the election of delegates to the Auckland Bowling Association, namely, Messrs. A. Bartlett, D. P. McDonald, and Jits. Stichbury. The Match Committee elected were : Messrs. Veale, A. Littler, Coutts. Mr. M. McDermott, secretary of the Cambridge Bowling Club, wrote regretting that (hiring the past season the club had been unable to accept tho invitation to visit Auckland, but hoped to do so during the next season. The following new members were elected:—Messrs. M. Casey, Griffiths, Payne, T. Gresham, M. Fairs, Gorman, Dyson, B. Elliott. The following were proposed :—Messrs. P. Green and Harry Cooke. Vote?, of thanks to the ladia.s for their hospitality during the past season, the outgoing officers, the press, and a special vote of thanks to Mr. das. Stichbury as outgoing president for the energy and ability with which ho had promoted the interests of the club, and to the chairman, were carried by acclamation.
