The championship matches will lie continued this afternoon on the Auckland Domain, tin; following games being set down for decision.- — Grafton v. Ponsonby I;, North Shore v. (hoy Lynn, and Suburbs v. Ponsonby A. The last- mentioned match will bo played on No. 1 ground, and should bo productive of a great deal of interest, neither team as yet having Buffered a defeat. The several games played on .Saturday last were, with the exception of the Ponsonby A Grey Lynn fixture, very well contented. Although at the finish of" play Grey Lynn had a deficit of 13 goals, the winners did not by any menus have it all their own wav.
A. Walton bids fair (o become a first-class "home," hit taking and shooting being very accurate.
Cooper played a pound same in goal, bis running out to check his opponent being quite a revelation.
Grey Lynn are las a team) fast acquiring combination, Bra.Hey, the Walton brothers, and Co. being tho levers. Suburbs once more proved their quality by their win over Ponsonby. Brown, Kendall, Morrin, and Somerfield were the backbone of the combination.
A. A. Davis having left for Australia during the week, Ponsonby A will be without his services.
It is about time that thu North Shore team pulled themselves together, and arose out of that lethargic condition to command that respect and admiration which their prowess earned for them last season.
R. Lafcfa seems to be losing that dash and determination which characterised his play at Iho commencement of the season.
11. MaKon is a very willing player. His goal from near centre last Saturday was an eye-opener. Ward, besides playing a really useful game, handled his team with great judgment. Cunliffe, night, and Fair burn arc players of tho sound and clover order.
It was sheer desperation and cleverness Combined that enabled Wynyard and Potts to ..core.
H. McCoy was a distinct success in his old place, on tho attack.
Harris, at centre, is a clever and dashing player, but he must prr.etise throwing.
