WAIKATO LICENSING COMMITTEE.

Hamilton, Wednesday. The adjourned annual meeting of the Yt'aikato Licensing Committee was held to-day. Present: Messrs. H. W. Northcroft, S.M. (chairman), Bailey. Edgecumbe, Storey and Coates. Mr. O'Neill appeared for .several applicants and Mr. Swarbriek in one case. The chairman, in opening the proceedings, said the committee had decided that balconies will have to be erected on aTi houses over one storey so that escape may be posable from each bedroom and thence to the ground. The improvements are to be made before the December meeting. Objections were urged by counsel. The- Chairman said ate eases ot fare had shown that further provisions for escape were necessary.
