AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS
NEARLY SIXTY MAGNIFICENT PICTURES. A TRULY HISTORIC NUMBER. ROTORUA'S ROYAL RECEPTION. MARVELLOUS MAORI CEREMONIES'. GREAT TRIBAL GATHERING. THE ROYAL GROUP. The present issue of the Auckland Weekly News is one of the most interesting numbers ever published. The year Las been exceptionally rich in picturesque events, including the sending away of contingents, the mourning for our great Queen, the proclamation of our King, the procession of Imperial troops, but the visit of their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York seems to have surpassed everything in genuine interest and spectacular, effects, and the reception of ilie Royal visitors by Aucklanders ami by the great gathering of Maoris, amid the natural wonders of the Auckland hot lake region, is likely to remain as the greatest pictorial effect in the history of New Zealand illustrated journalism. War hukas by genuine Maori warriors, given with all the old time vigour, pui-ptii and poi dames by Maori wahines, are reproduced as they actually took place, and the Lake and Duchess are shown mixing freely with people who a. tew short years ago were at bitter enmity with our race. No reception given by the peoples of the various countries visited during the Royal tour is likely to equal the Rotora reception in pictnresqueness and novelty, and the fact that ib has been so admirably portrayed by the illustrations in this number of the Wkkkj.Y Nkws should make this publication attractive to all classes of people ill all \»xts of the world. New pictures of Auckland's Royal reception, including sour striking scenes at the military review in Potter's Paddock, and the social receptions given by the Mayor of Auckland, and by the Government, are also produced, The Weekly News is now on sale, and can be obtained from all newsagents and ruunc..'.
