A eoxsTMU.K was conveying a prisoner to Albury, and when the In. in stopped at a station at midnight, on excuse of going to the lavatory, the prisoner jumped off. The constable fired two shots, but the prisoner escaped. Next morning V- was arrested IS miles from the. scene of the escape, with a flesh wound in bis leg, tho result of the constable's shot. His hands were terribly bruised, as he bad dragged oft' the handcuffs. FIRE IN SYDNEY. Ston-ky, June 14. A fire occurred on the top floor of Messrs. Mason Brothers' large warehouse. The damage was extensive. The insurances included £14200 in the New Zealand Insurance Company.
