THE CONGO FREE STATE.
By Telegraph.— Press Association.—Copyl. Brussels. June i:s. Kino Leopold, considering that Belgium is unprepared to govern the Congo Free State, objects to M. Beernaaerl'a proposal for its inure diate annexation.
A Brussels telegram in a London news paper of May 2. say.-:— "hi. Waiiturs. win is secretary-trenera! of the Coiifo Kail way Company and not connected will) the Ad ministration, is at 'lie present moment »r:; in-- the immediate annexation of the Stati by Belgium, but to this the Free State, is opposed. 1 have, however, reason to be )i«vo that King 1 eopohl is desiromi of boil: freed from any convention with I'dginm in order to impose of i: :>.- lie thinks tit— in oilier word*, by ceding it ;•'. an opportune moment and on good conditions to France.'
