Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report on March 27:—At St. Hill-street yesterday we had a full yarding of sheep, which consisted chiefly of half to three-quarter-bred wethers and ewes (small) from Moawhaiiga district, on account of several natives from that district, and are sorry to report that we couldn't manage to do business with them, the reserves being excessive throughout. Very good prices were offered for the bulk of the lines,, bat they preferred to take them back and keep them until after- shearing. Cattle sold well, and bidding was brisk, everything being sold at auction. We quote:—Cattle: 18-month to two-year heifers. £3 2s; forward cows, £4 6s .6(1; weaners, £1 12s to £1 16s; yearling heifers, £2 3s to £2 ss. Sheep: Store wethers, 113 to lis 6d; fat and forward ewes. 10s 6d; forward ewes, 9s; Jambs (small). 3s lOd to 5s 6d. Pigs: Porkers, 18s to £1 os; large pork, £1 5s to £1 of; small sorts, 5s to Bs. FEILDING. Messrs. Gorton and Son report :—During the hist week we have held sales at Hunterville, Feilding, Mr. Pembcrthy's (Waituna), and at v\ aituna. "At Huntervilie we had a good yarding of sheep and fair entries of cattle. -the bidding was a little dragging at first, but we cleared everything excepting a small pen of fat ewes and four head of cattle. At Feilding we had large entries and a good attendance. The-sale opened • rather dull at first, hut increased in briskness as it went on, and resulted in a large" clearance of both sheep and cattle. At Mr. Pemberthy's dairy cows sold well, but good bargains were secared among the articles of furniture. At Waituna only small entries came forward, but with the exception of a pen of cattle and sheep all were sold.
