PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Piako County Council was held on Friday. Present: Messrs. Chepmell (chairman), Harrison, Ring, Farmer, McCaw, and Jackson. The Marine Department advised that Mr. R. W. Bagnall had been appointed by the Governoi to represent the Piako County on the Thames Harbour Board. The Railway Department advised that it was intended to regrade the approach to the. Te* Aroha Bridge. This would raise the road about 2ft, and asked if the Council had any suggestions to make as to how the work should be carried out. It was decided to leave the matter to the Department. Messrs. Chepmell, Harrison, and Farmer were appointed to the Finance Committee, to prepare estimates for the ensuing year. In accordance with Foreman Mahood's report, the following works were authorised:—About 25 or 30 chains on the Cambridge side of the Taotaoroa. Hills tc have soft rock put on and broken six or seven yards to the chain. About £10 to be spent in cleaning up culverts. To have certain repairs made to culverts on the Putaruru-Waotu Road effected. Foreman Wattam was authorised to carry out the following works:— new caps to bo put on the- piles, and some more sheeting to be supplied to the bridge near Carroll's, at Cordon Settlement. Tenders to be called for repairing Stanley Road, from the junction to Mace's Road, and the pines at Knight's • Road; also for sanding about 25 chains near Rowe's, on the same road. The clerk was instructed to write to various property owners, calling upon them to cut all branches from trees which are hanging low enough t< interfere with people riding along the roads.
