PRESBYTBRIAN GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wanganui, Wednesday. The Presbyterian General Assembly met this morning. A deputation from the Synod of Otago and Southland, and ministers and elders sitting for the first Mine, were welcomed by the Moderator. A private conference of ministers and elders was called this afternoon. The report on the Church Property Board was read and adopted, with thanks to the members and chairman. It was agreed that-no junior clerk be appointed to the Assembly, but that a minister be associated with the clerk from year to year to assist. Amended regulations with regard to scholarships and students were adopted. The Advisory Board was appointed to act in conjunction with the Church Extension Committee. At the evening session the report of the Scholarships Committee was adopted. The Maori Mission report was read and adopted, authorising the committee among other things to take the necessary steps for the employment of another agent in the King Country district. The matter of the century fund was left in the hands of the committee, the convener intimating that the Rev. Gillies intended to renew his canvass for funds at the beginning of March. The Church extension report was read, showing the funds to be in a flourishing condition. A committee was appointed to deal with the various petitions and applications for admission to the ministry of the Church. The delegates are to be taken for a trip up the river in the morning.
