.;, AUCKLAND YACHT CLUB. A "KB* enjoyable social of the members of the. Auckland Yacht Club was held in the plub room?, Pajmerston Buildings, last night, there being a large attendance. . Mr. 0* P Murdoch, vice-commodore, presided at the commencement of the -proceedings, which throughout were marked by an excellent feeling. During the evening Mr. Murdoch referred to the thefts which had taken place from the yachts in the harbour of , late, , and expressed. the opinion that some strict measures should be taken to stop the continuous pilfering which yachtsmen had to put un with. Mr. Murdoch then presented Mr. Wiseman with . a handsome marble clock, with a plate bearing the following inscription:—"Presented to ' Commodore John Wiseman, by the members of the Auckland Yacht Club, on the occasion sf his marriage. The committee of the Anniversary Regatta , met yesterday morning, and decided to wait upon His Worship the Mayor and requesti bjm to telegraph to the Hon. J. G. Ward, asking him, if possible, to postpone the date of the departure of the Sixth Contingent from Auckland from the 29th inst,, seeing . that it would interfere with the holding of the regatta. In ; reply, Mr. Ward stated that it was impossible to interfere with the present arrangem and the Regatta Committee then;- decided to 1* take entries for the events offering last night, on the understanding that the ; regatta would be postponed. 'Hie Regatta Committee will hold a meeting later on this week, and. decide what course to pursue. PARNELL SAILING CLUB.
