MOUNT EDEN ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Friday evening, the 21s) inst. The members present were: Messrs, R. Udy (chairman), O. Nicholson, R. R. Roes, and C. Hudson.

The bank books were laid on the table, and the balances reported as follows: — General account, dr., £119 3s 7d; water account, dr., £110 Is sd; trust account, cr., £125 16s 9d; lighting account, cr., £145 5s Bd. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £100 6s 9d.

The Board dealt with several petitions i>nd letters, and resolved to call for tenders for footpath formation in Epsom Road, to come before the next meeting. Matters connected with water supply, lighting, tarring and catiding footpaths, etc., were considered. Ihe dog tax for 1901 was fixed at sa, and the collector reappointed. The chairman reported upon the recent interview with the Hon. J. G. Ward at the Mount Eden railway station, when the deputation had an opportunity of laying before the Minister the need of an enlarged station, with a branch telegraph office, and the matter of drainage of that part of the district adjacent to the railway. The Board decided to refuse the request of the Mount Eden Ratepayers' Association to use the fire brigado station for their meetings, iii consequence of the bridgade having protested to the Board against granting permission.
