Some months ago Messrs. Jesse King and Co. succeeded in forming a company, having for its object the manufacture of glass bottles, jars, etc., under the management of Mr. L. L. Mount. The company was duly registered, and under instructions of the directors, Mr. Mount proceeded to America to purchase the necessary machinery, and to engage such services as may be necessary to work it. By the Mariposa's mail just received, long and interesting letters were sent by Mr. Mount to the Board, which state that his mission has been successful, and that he will be returning by the steamer leaving San Francisco on January 3, or at latest, that following in three weeks. Mr. Mount took with him 12 bag? of sand, of the kind to be used by the company. It will be interesting to know that'it j has been seen by many of the largest glass J manufacturers in America, and the general ! verdict is that it is the finest sand for glass- | making they have ever seen. The company | have an unlimited store to draw from. Mr. P. Hansen, of the Auckland Electric [ Tramways Company, who has lately returned : from Wellington, reports that considerable ', progress has been made with the electrize I tramways scheme.
