A SOIREE and entertainment under the auspices of Trinity Church, Cambridge, was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, on Wednesday evening A largo number of people sat down to several well-filled tables, presided over by Mesdames J. Hally, John Fisher, fergason. Rou', Cargo, and Kiss Young. T> I" 10 Kov. John Erwin presided. The Revs. Hugh Kelly (Auckland), W. _ Smith (Te Awamutu); J. M. Mitchell (Hamilton) and S. J. THE annual meeting of the Waikoto fruitgrowers' Association was held at- Ohaupo on Tuesday. A letter was received from me Premier, thankint the association for expressing satisfaction at. the reduction or duty on implements. The secretary was instructed to write to the Taupiri Sawmill Company, requesting that members Ox the association be supplied with boxes at tho same price as last yea.. The . meeting was pi opinion that it was better to sell gooseberries by the pound until uniform boxes MB available. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. Farrer; vice-president, Mr. Turney: secretary. Mi. Ohye: treasurer, Mr. P. Karl; executive committee, Messrs. J. Sharp. W. Johns, J. T. Edwards, P. 0. German. J. Potts, and G. Sdgecumbe. ■ KIHIKIHI. SEVERAL tons of gooseberries have been sent to the Auckland market by local growers, and the prioes realised have so far been satisfactory. The crop is, with tho exception of those in specially exposed positions, a good one. MORRINBVILLE. MR. W. P. CHEPMELL was on Wednesday reelected chairman of the Piaso County Council, and Messrs. Chepmell, Gallagher, and Farmer were .elected representatives of the Council on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.
