WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Tuesday. THE NEW MOTOR. Mr. Skeates sold one of his motor cars in Christchurch on Saturday. This was the first motor car sale held in New Zealand. The car realised £135. The buyers were Wardell Brothers and Co. MINISTERIAL. The Premier returns from Milford Sound to Greymouth to-morrow. The Minister for Lands left for Nelson to-day. The Minister for Customs (Mi. C. H. Mills) leaves foi Blenheim on Friday. RAILWAY CARRIAGES. The new carriages, which are being made at St. Louis, in the United States, to the order of the Government, will be in Wellington by February next. Twenty-three of them will be here in January. Forty of them will be railed to San Francisco, and shipped there for New Zealand. KHAKI V, BLUE. The Wellington Engineers, about to be formed, favour blue rather than khaki as the colour of tbeu new uniform. They interviewed the Commander of the Forces on the subject this morning. Colonel PolePenton pointed out that under the regulations only khaki can be used. THE NEW MAGISTRATE. It is stated that the salary of the new relieving magistrate is to be £455 a year.
